Would piano be considered Visual and Performing Arts for universities in california?

I'm taking this class next year for my fine art credit in high school and I need to know if this is qualifies for the visual and performing art.

Check this website to see if it listed for your high school: http://www.ucop.edu/doorways/

I’m out of state

I would call to confirm if the class is UC approved.
(800) 207-1710 (within the U.S.)
(661) 336-5723 (outside the U.S.)

You are aware how much the UC’s cost to out of state students? $55k per year and there is very limited financial aid to OOS students.

Yes I am aware.

piano as a performing art? yes. As a visual one? Unlikely. Visual arts typically refer to visual stimulus, rather than aural stimulus. Music is largely aural. Dictation, sight singing, practice…while have some visual stimuli, its primary aural.

From this: <a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors;
it looks like yes.

"Visual and Performing Arts (“f”)

1 year required: One yearlong course of visual and performing arts chosen from the following: dance, drama/theater, music or visual art"

But, I’d call just to make sure.

Thank you for the answers!
