make it easier to get a job in Southern California than other elite schools in the northeast, like Brown and Amherst?

My son thinks so, which is why he chose Pomona. Son had two internships, and the last one in senior year could have led to a job if he had wanted to go that direction. He took a fellowship in the public sector at the state level instead.
Most of the kids I know who went to school on the east coast from California stayed east- my daughter included. You’d be surprised at the connections you make in four years.

If the Pomona alumni network could help my D land her job in Boston, it definitely can do that in SoCal, and in similar large cities.

I think that Pomona’s analogues on the east coast are more like Swarthmore (with which they have an exchange), Williams and Amherst, than Brown. In answer to the OP’s question, it likely depends on career plan- if entertainment/film, etc. Pomona is just the thing, while for pursuing grad school or a profession (law, medicine, etc.) they are all good choices.
