I'm a rising senior and I just received my AP score report and they were not too great :(....
AP Biology: 2
AP Calculus BC: 3 (AB subscore: 3)
AP Lang: 4
AP Psychology: 4
AP US History: 3

These are my sophomore AP Tests as well:
AP World: 3
AP Chemistry: 3

I'm really looking forward to apply to UPENN and Johns Hopkins and now I'm a little unsure on whether I should apply or not looking at my ap scores...could you guys give me your insight on how much ap scores matter when it comes to admissions?

The BC Calculus score might hurt for Penn but that all depends which school you are applying to, I know for Wharton and probably the Engineering school a 5 is preferred.

*The risk is only when you have taken a class and you dont report a score not when you cannot because the commonapp wont let you

However, you do not need to report all of your AP Scores but do so at your own risk*. I think there are 10 spots of self-reported Standardized Tests on the CommonApp, so if you take the SAT (2 times), ACT (2 times), and 3 SAT II’s. You only need to submit 3 AP scores since it wont let you submit anymore. They dont matter as much for admission as for Placement/Credits. Idk how many times you have taken the SAT or ACT or SAT 2’s, but if you take more (limit SAT or ACT to like 2-3 times each) you can report less AP exams. Hope this helps!

tl;dr you can take other standardized tests such as the PSAT/SAT/ACT/SATII to “max out” your commonapp so AP scores wont fit in. Ideally you could report AP Lang, AP Psych, and AP World/USH and fill in the rest of the spots with other tests.

Proof that there is a max: https://appsupport.commonapp.org/link/portal/33011/33013/Article/68/Listing-all-AP-IB-and-SAT-Subject-Tests
