Hey there! I’m a high school senior and I’ve done freelance work for publications like Teen Vogue and Cosmopolitan where they’ve paid or offered to pay me. Would I put that in the work experience?
(Side note: Cosmo has said they would schedule to post my work and pay me already, but has not done either yet. Would it be dishonest of me to include them in my application?)
If you got paid for your writing, it is work.
As for Cosmo not paying yet, check bak with them and find out what is going on.
And read up on self-employment tax. You may well owe that even if you don’t make enough to pay income tax.
@happymomof1 I’ve been trying to get in contact with the editor I worked with for a few weeks now, and nothing. I want to put them on my app considering the work I did was lengthy and I did it on an extreme time constraint for them, but I don’t want to put it on there if the editor never ever gets back to me? Idk
What kind of contract did you have with the editor? The affects whether or not the intellectual rights are yours, or theirs. If the rights are yours, and they haven’t paid, then you can just pull back the article and sell it elswhere.
