Would this senior schedule hurt me in college admissions?

The schedule:

AP Stats
AP Geo
Chinese II Honors
Constitutional Law Honors (semester)
US History Accelerated
English IV Accelerated (I'm maybe dropping down from AP Lit)

I'm looking at colleges around the 90-ish National Universities ranking mark (Amherst, Florida State), and around the 100-ish National Liberal Arts ranking mark (Bennington, St Micheal's)

Is the schedule listed weak for those types of schools?

Looks good to me, you have a couple of APs and honors, pretty well balanced. Only thing, did you take precalc last year?

I didn’t- I did badly in math last year and was placed in this remedial math course (whole situation doesn’t correlate with my 680 on the math section of the SAT, but oh well) and got an A in it. None of the schools on my list require Pre Calc, though. (I took AP Stats to try to kind of make up for not having the greatest track record in math).

If your schools don’t require it, you are probably ok. Really looks like you are doing your best. Happy senior year!

It doesn’t look strong for Amherst. That to too much of a reach, due to weak math program, no 4th year math, only 2 yrs lang, no 4th year lab science. It may be okay for the others.

^I’m talking about University of Mass: Amherst, not Amherst College, sorry.

Wouldn’t AP Stats count as a 4th year of math?

@CuriousJane - Generally no, AP Stats does not count as a fourth year of math since it is not part of the standard progression. It will likely fulfill minimum graduation requirements, but selective colleges prefer that students take Stats only if they have exhausted other math options.

As an analogy, if a student takes two years of Spanish, then takes a year of German, a requirement for three years of foreign language will have been met, although not in the preferred manner.

Just plain wrong. AP Stats counts just fine for the target schools. It’s not designed for the top math students, it’s a waste of time for STEM students. It’s ideal for students that struggle with math and want to satisfy their college’s math requirement using AP credit. It covers a semester of college stats over the course of a whole year. It is slower than at college so that mathematically challenged students can get it at a more deliberate pace and thus actually learn it.

Also, when schools require/recommend 2-4 years of foreign language, it usually means the same language. You better check the schools requirement.
