No 4th year of Math?

Hello, I am currently taking a overly rigorous schedule consisting of AP English Lit., AP Physics C, AP Statistics, AP Computer Science, AP U.S Government and Spanish 3. On top of all that, I have 2 varsity sports that occupy a lot of my time, and are considered classes by themselves. I go to school at around 6:30-6:50AM everyday and leave after practice at around 6PM.

Anyway, I just took my first AP Statistics and felt that I got completely overwhelmed(Probable D+). My teacher does not curve or drop tests, and we only have 3 tests per semester, including a tough final( no quizzes and trivial homework points). Previous students said his class was extremely tough, and after my performance, I agree. I am considering dropping this class from my schedule. I believe I already have 4 years of Math, since I took Algebra 2 during the summer so I could take Calc AB last year, which I got an A+ and a 5.

I am applying to top 20 schools+ UC's. Considering I have already finished Calculus and taken a summer of Algebra 2 to get ahead, would schools look down on not doing math my senior year, even though my schedule is still rigorous?

Hmm, I think so.

Personally, I think folks put waaaaaaaaayyyyy too much emphasis on AP courses. Unless, you are gaining 20+ college credits, you are still graduating in 4 years. Also, in many cases, business, engineering and science majors will count AP Statistics because it is not calculus-based.

AP statistics is supposed to be one of the easy math courses (compared to AP calculus)…

Having completed AP calculus (even if just AB) should count for more than 4 years of math, since the 4th year of math in high school is nominally precalculus.

AP Stats is generally considered one of the easiest APs, probably after Enviro, Human Geography, Psych, and maybe Gov.

Will your HS let you drop a class at this point?
I think there is a good argument here that you have completed plenty of math classes and that you need a little space in your schedule to handle everything else adequately.

Yes, I can still drop, but I only have til Friday to decide.
