Would writing an essay that's slightly over the limit hurt my chances at admission?

For the UC online AP, I'm about 25 words the limit, but I haven't seen an error. Would some reps be sticklers about this rule?

I personally don't think it's worth it to risk it.

If I can shave 100 words off of a 600 word essay, you can certainly shave 25.

Oh come on, 25 words (even a hundred) is perfectly acceptable. The word limit is only there so that applicants don't turn in novellas as their essays. Your fine.

Yeah - as long as you're not more than 75-100 words over, you're fine. They will not count every word. Really.

Seriously, admissions officers have better things to do than count words

The UC ( California) ap says "for example 1,012 is fine"

When the officer from UCSD came in, he said officially the limit was 30 over...I think you are in the clear.
