Would you be so kind as to chance me?

I wavered back and forth about Middlebury for about a year and a half, but I finally decided to submit my supplement/pre-application today. What kind of chances do you think I have?

Ethnicity: White
Gender: Female
State: Michigan
School: Decently competitive public "magnet." We're a silver-medal USNWR school, for what that's worth. We send a lot of kids to the University of Michigan, and a few to top LACs/public universities, though no Ivies in the past twenty years or so.
Majors: I'm thinking biology or history, though I also put down CS.

Unweighted GPA: 3.98
Weighted GPA: I approximated it at 4.41, but that's not official.
Rank: We don't officially rank until graduation, but I'm on track to be salutatorian.

Classes: I've taken the most rigorous courses I can. This includes a multi-year countywide gifted and talented course for English. I've taken all honors classes available to me, as well as three APs last year and three more this year.

I think you look great. 9th grade awards don’t mean much, unless you were competing with older kids, but they can’t hurt you. Your grades, scores and ecs all look good, and with your writing skills, I bet your essay will be fab!

Some of those ninth grade awards were from competition among other ninth graders, whereas others were against high school students of all ages.

Thanks for chancing me, OldbatesieDoc. I hope my writing skills pull me through on the essay–I’m having the hardest time with it right now!

Well, I have 2 sons accepted at Midd now-one a Feb 2010 off the wait list, and the other an athletic recruit for Sept 2010. Your scores are a little worse(M) than wait-list boy, and a little better (no 800, 31 ACT) than athlete boy. Both had 4.0 GPAs in IB and fab ecs. Wait list boy won several NYS awards for our school newspaper-best paper, best editorial page, best editorial etc.
Coming from Michigan will help a tiny bit, your music will help, and the writing makes Midd a good fit! Good luck, make sure they know you want them lots!
