Would you care if your bully got into Harvard?

well I don’t have a “bully” per se, but it bothered me a bit when a complete dumbass got recruited to Harvard for basketball (on the condition that he gets at least a 1700 on the SAT, which, because of his general idiocy and complete lack of motivation, seems unlikely at this point…) while my best friend got rejected despite her excellent application.

I’d be mad if anybody I knew got into Harvard just because I’m jealous and annoying. But I’d never let it show, even if I hated their guts.

I’m actually surprised that people get angry when other people get into top schools. For me, I get really excited when people get into top schools because I can imagine how excited and relieved they were. It might be different if they got into my dream school and I didn’t…well, I don’t know.

I do understand being annoyed at recruits, though. There is a guy in my class who is SO. DUMB. Well, he is not necessarily dumb but he has a reallllllly bad learning disorder and whenever he opens his mouth we just kind of look at each other like “…did he really just say that?” Not in a mean way, though. He is really popular. He’s just…I don’t know. He got accepted into Penn, but he’s the kind of guy who’s like “Can I not do any work and just accept a B- in the class instead?” And at the same time, the smartest, most hardworking girl in my school is also going to Penn. So it’s kind of a sad comparison.

in all fairness, I swear I wasn’t trying to make you feel bad xD
