Thank you! I think D would love Fairfield but have heard clinical locations are a pain. I am going to browse around a bit more! Thank you again for the suggestions.
Clinicals can be difficult in terms of logistics at many schools, some may even require having a carâŠso, good that you are on to that aspect!
I think that Duquesne is nearly a safety, but sounds like she might not want to go there. Scranton is a highly likely tooâŠis that more appealing to her?
Sheâs being recruited to swim at Scranton so itâs just a whole different experience. I think she needs to see Duquesne with students there. We went in late May. I think she would like it with as much as she loves Pitt. Sheâs thinking about maybe even applying for the 5 yr PA program and if rejected can course correct. Agh. Canât believe its that time already!
Weâve seen elsewhere that CDS GPAs are, unfortunately, meaningless. I forget the school, but iirc, they had a higher percentage of students with a 4.0 GPA than were in the top 25% of their graduating class.
I donât know much about nursing but VCU might be a safety for her and they have a med school. ECU might be too. /itâs not the right vibe for my D22 (she likes VCU) but your D might like it. Good med school there too and generally a lot of good healthcare programs.
One other suggestion is to look at the data on the Nursing Exam pass rate by school, along with the pass rate you should be able to get the number of students who took the exam to give you an idea on the size of the program. My D23 is an education major and there were some big differences in outcomes between schools. The data helped both refine the list and find other schools that we hadnât considered.
However, also note how aggressively the nursing program weeds out students when looking at licensing exam pass rates.
How about York College of PA? Direct admit and D3 swimming.
I know the Fairfield area very well, but do not know what clinicals are. What are they?

Found this with a google search.

Hope this helps.
Western Carolina University might be worth a look.
Here is a link to the WCU School of Nursing: Western Carolina University - School of Nursing
Here is a link to WCU admissions (relatively inexpensive for OOS students, under $20K for tuition + fees + room/board): Western Carolina University - Undergraduate Tuition and Financial Aid
Isnât Western Carolina just $5000/year even for out of state?
Tuition is $5K/year for OOS students, and $1K/year for in-state students; full COA for OOS students is a little less than $20K/year.
