A) Go to a research oriented college. It's not so big on athletics (but you like a college who is big on athletics) and doesn't have great school spirit. Has an "ok" atmosphere in an "ok" town. Doesn't really suck in your major but isn't great either, BUT it's fully paid for. Tuition, dorm, fees, meal plan, books, EVERTHING.

OR

B) A "party" college in a great college town. There's always places to go or somewhere to be. They have a great football team and great school spirit. Everything is great. Your major is going strong on campus and your back up majors are pretty good, too, BUT only tuition and dorms are paid for. Your lucky to get as much as $1000 a year...maybe.

They’re both pretty icky, but I guess the first one. I’m too socially awkward to deal with a party school. Alcoholism runs in my family so I really don’t like hanging around drunk people.

Um neither, many people (myself included) do not value or desire a party or sport focussed school, both of which are also easy to avoid. A better question would be would you rather attend a school you love/has what you want in a college but not receive financial aid/scholarship or attend a school that is okay and does not have anything you love about it on a full scholarship?

Do what you want to do. If your into parties and school spirit and you can still afford it go there. College is supposedly the “glory days” so don’t make a decision you’ll regret.
I pick B by the way.

The other expenses are not going to be anything you can’t handle with a summer job. From my understanding you value a strong social scene/parties, if that is what will make you happy in college go for it.

My deep and infallible knowledge of forum psychology tells me that you are leaning towards the second option. You ought to tell us the names of these schools, especially if they are FSU, UF, or UCF. I am also curious if you are still applying to WUSTL.

Alternatively, if the first option is mindbogglingly all-expense-paid, you could buy a social scene of your own. That book money has to be put to use somewhere. If it is the profoundest of ghettos (and mind you, I have heard survivors tell me what Florida is truly like behind the sunshine of Disneyland), then trust your inner party-monster and embrace Ke$ha.

Clearly choice B is University of Florida. I recommend it. For me it was between Emory and UF. I was hesitant with UF but best choice of my life. I joined a fraternity(party scene) and still managed a 3.8 even with some upper levels. Don’t sweat it. GO GATORS

Well, if you must know College A is USF and College B is UF. I got into UCF, but I don’t want to go there. I’m still applying to WUSTL…I think. I know my chances of going out of state are running at about 1%. My mom’s not too keen on the idea and going out of state requires so much more planning compared to driving three hours upstate.

Buying my own social scene is a very attractive option. But, yes, the area around the USF campus is known for being particularly ghetto. I haven’t been to the campus yet, but when I visit I’ll make sure to see of the gghettoness is easily escapable.

Always, Niquii :]

Yes :] It’s the one and only! CHOMP!

UF and USF, but you had the letter right!

I guess the only thing that’s holding me back is the feeling of missing out on something. I don’t want to pick the wrong choice, especially when my family is all for USF. But, hey, does family really know what’s best? I’ll soon find out in February :] Thank you, for all the opinions!
