I am just wondering if anyone goes to WashU, without any financial aid.

All the ones going to WashU I know have at least over 20k of the aid (merit or need)...

I am going there w/out FA. It sucks, I know.

Hey, I was at WashU at for the Olin Weekend two weekends ago. It is a great place and I would assume that tons of people go their without any financial aid. I believe that their statistic is that 56% of attending students are on financial aid, which of course means that 44% are receiving zero. I myself was suprised by pervasiveness of Northeastern US money that was floating around....I would venture to say that a majority of students come from a very well-off background.

They didn't offer me any aid....so it looks like it'll be a tough choice between WashU and UCLA.

Me.
As an international kid, my hopes weren't high anyway. No FA practically anywhere.

I applied to WashU with every intention of possibly going even if I had to pay the full sticker price. Even given the fact that I applied after the deadline for FA, they paid for more than half of my tuition: very generous school.

yeah i got no FA whatsoever but i'm still going

I got waitlisted and if I got in with no FA I would go. Then again, I hate all my other college options. Hence 1:27 at night and I'm sitting here trying to determine which one to attend.

Daniel, may I ask what were your scores ? Are you sure you have done everything that could be done (in terms of you, your teachers and advisors contacting WashU) to get off the waitlist ?

I really need to get to work trying to get off the wait list. I've been a little too busy with trying to decide what to attend if I don't make it. I don't have much time.

jewballer, i was @ the olin weekend too. and to the original poster, i could possibley be attending without any financial aid whatsoever. altho umich instate is making my decision tough.

I wish I could, but money is a HUGE factor for me, so I probably can't.
I cannot afford to go there without getting ANY sort of FA.
but i'll have to see if i get admitted first lol :)
that is the REAL issue. ;)

We may have to let it go, even WashU is still D's first choice (professor/student ratio, happy environment, easy to double major, switch major, beautiful campus... she can see herself being very happy there). The number one reason is money, D is also planning to go to grad school. It will take us quite a while to pay off the loans (we would still do it if D wants, but she is such a great kid to take finance into the consideration). Another reason is the engineering program in WashU not being very strong. I could be wrong, but I don't see WashU's engineering program ranked among top 5 in any areas nationwide.

It is still very sad to let it go, the WashU community has been great! We will make the final decision today. I wish everyone the best in the decision making.

Pick Wash U!
