Writing a different essay than the transfer prompt

Is it entirely a mistake? The transfer prompt for the Common App is “Please provide a statement that addresses your reasons for transferring and the objectives you hope to achieve,” which while an understandable admissions criteria for a transfer student, leaves a lot to be desired in the area of creativity.

I’ve written another essay for a different prompt (“Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself or others”) which I feel gives a far better indication of myself as a student, a learner, and adds a better perspective of my application rather than writing a drier history of my education.

Would it be completely stupid to submit the latter essay instead of the former? I don’t have much a chance at Stanford so really it’s not a huge risk lmao

Is it possible that the transfer prompt is an additional prompt that can be chosen from out of the other options?

Thanks!

Additionally, Stanford is the only school on the Common App I’m applying to. Is tailoring the essay to one sole school despite it being a Common App-essay not a good idea?
