I got deferred from UPenn. Since I really wanna go there, should I write a letter?

I did ( well, i’m working on it). I better finish that up and send it. Good luck man.

interesting, so bump

I think you should. And update them on the latest awards you received, etc. But don’t exceed one page! Keep it short and sweet. :)

mine was two pages, double spaced. is that bad?

if its two pages double spaced, then it should be about a page single spaced, so i think you’re good.

i was also deferred from penn and am currently in the process of writing a letter…when are you guys sending it in by? my counselor said the end of this month/first week of feb.

i have no idea, that sounds good to me. i’ll do that but more opinions would be nice.

what exactly should I write though? I didn’t get any new awards in a month.

Did you start anything new? Any new club?

Just did a couple more activities in my club I founded.

Who should we send the letter to? Should we send it to the interviewer or a specific email address at Penn?

I was going to send mine to my regional director ( you can find it in the contact us section of the website, I don’t know your state so I can’t help you much more)

Are ur letters coming off as somewhat cheesy lol? I’m having trouble trying to figure out what to put in it, I do have a few exciting awards/developments that I’m mentioning but I’m not sure how to say “I LOVE Penn” in a less cheesy way lol.

I want to finish this weekend though and send it off as soon as my finals are over this week!!!

Mine isn’t too cheesy. I have a lot of new stuff to be honest. I got a couple of awards for being good at soccer and a couple for academics. Then I joined a group that does stuff to raise money for a children’s hospital. Then at the end I just talked about how I still really want to attend penn and consider it my first choice etc.

mines both cheesy and long. and you know what? i don’t care! I’m not going to shorten what i have to say just so that they have more time to look at other peoples applications–the way I see it is that they’re making me wait sooooooo long after deferral for their decision SO I’m going to make them spend time on me by reading my letter. (: 3 pages 1.5 spaced. and full of cheese.
