Writing a Tuition Appeal Letter

Hello

I currently owe my school $1377 because I dropped below the credit minimum for the government to disburse the money to the funds. Because I dropped before the disbursement date/time, the government canceled their disbursement to the school and now I owe the school the funds. I contacted the Director of Financial Aid for the campus which my classes were held and she said to write an appeal asking for partial or full forgiveness of the money owed. She said that because I did not attend the classes for their full term duration, they may reduce the amount owed to what they see as reasonable for the time I did attend the classes.

I have no experience in writing a letter like this. Any resources I can use to begin drafting my letter? Any tips or advice?

I’d greatly appreciate any and all information!

Why did you drop out, and why did you miss the deadline for a full reimbursement of tuition? Start there, with the fact. Dear Admissions, I had to drop below the minimum course schedule because I broke my ankle/I needed to work full time/I had health issues/I didn’t understand the math course at all even after tutoring/I didn’t understand the rules. Keep it simple, ask for forgiveness, tell them your plan for future classes.
