I'm currently a junior in HS and my GPA's only around a 3.6 UW. My realistic goal is to go to Emory while I'm dreaming of getting accepted to Harvard or Yale.

So since my GPA's horrific, I'm trying to fix it while also fixing up my resume. I'm pretty good at writing so I was wondering if anyone knows about any writing contests I can enter that will help me?

If anyone knows someone who got into Emory with a GPA like mine or any other success story, please share! :)

Look at local libraries, I’m thinking. This is a really good idea and I’ll be looking into it as well!
Also, work on your GPA. It’s possible. Obviously unlikely, but possible.
Take like 8 classes and get all A’s. Lul.

Writing contests are super hard to win I’ve applied to over 20 national writing contests and I haven’t won anything. Safe to say though I’m not the next Shakespeare yet my teachers call me “best writer in their career.”

There’s Ayn Rand contest, Rand McNally “America the Beautiful” contest, Optimistic International writing contest, Future Journalists, etc. I can compile a list of links for you if you want, although some of these deadlines may have passed. These are all national contests lol.

I would try looking at local contests, as if you are a good writer you have a higher chance of taking a prize. Just google search your region/city or ask your guidance counselor.

Just look around for some local contests. The local writing and arts council has an annual one where I live (won 1st place back in 8th grade :)). Your school might also have one, mine does. And of course there are national ones, and probably ones for whichever state you live in.
