Writing grammatical problem

Men and women leave the village before sunrise to hike four miles up steep, precarious trails to the forests and return by late afternoon with 70-pound loads of firewood on their backs.

It is OG Page 553 Q4 and it is the right sentence.
But i think 'trails' should be 'trail' since its subject 'Men and women' are plural.

Thanks all in advance.

Taking off the “s” to make a word plural only applies to verbs … not nouns …

He sits in the chair.

They sit in chairs.

Well, thanks.
I misunderstood the meaning of ‘trail’.

Yeah ice qube is right, the sentence seems correct
