Writing in pencil for English Language AP

I accidentally wrote in pencil for the essay section of my English Language AP test. My friends said that most likely my essays won't get scored. Is there any way I can change that?

The back of the exam booklet stated that you must use a pen that has black or dark blue ink when writing the essays, because CollegeBoard scans all the essays for readers to grade. If the essay is barely legible due to the writing not being dark enough, the graders will give the essay a 0.

There isn’t really anything you can do at this point, except hope your writing clearly shows up on the computer.

One of my friends mentioned something about asking them to re-score the test. Is that possible?

Yes, but they only re-score the MC section.

I copied this from CB’s website for your convenience:

"Multiple-Choice Rescore Service

You may request that your multiple-choice answer sheet be re-scored by hand. This score and your free-response score are then appropriately weighted and combined. The resulting score is converted to an AP score and compared with the reported score. The multiple-choice section is not disclosed, and therefore scores on this section are not available. The free-response section is not reread. Studio Art portfolios are not reevaluated. AP Services must receive your signed, written request by mail or fax by October 31 of the year in which you took the exam. The fee is $25 per exam. Please allow six to eight weeks for a response."

Oh ok. Thanks for the help.

No problem, just hope your essays are dark enough!

Haha yeah. I’ll just pray and hope I survive.
