i know wesleyan has a great writing department, but i noticed that there is no creative writing major like some other art/liberal art schools. are there writing concentrations in the english major? and i tried to find this answer on the website, but i can't decide whether or not it would be okay for me to submit a creative writing portfolio with my application. i completed the common app (there's no supplement) and i know some schools like columbia allow you to submit a small portfolio of creative work if applicable. answers please?

creative writing is a concentration within the English major, you could find a description of it on the English department’s site. along with the newly opened Shapiro Creative Center, they’re planning on making writing a certificate program also. (certificates are like minors in that they require less credits than majors, but the certificate programs are all in areas that aren’t covered by a single major or department.)

I think you can send additional stuff, but I don’t know how much they encourage it. maybe call admissions?
