<p>For those interesting in writing, are there magazines, publishers, etc that will allow you submit/apply to have an article, story, editorial, or writing piece considered for publication? Any recommendations or creative thoughts would be greatly appreciated</p>
<p>The FIRST place students should look for is their own high school newspaper and/or literary magazine. Both would provide opportunity to write, publish – have writing samples to send to potential colleges – and would also count as valuable ECs. </p>
<p>Beyond that, many local newspapers publish pieces by students, plus offer internships for high schoolers where they help edit, etc. </p>
<p>Google ‘publications for young writers’ and you get a lot of other options.</p>
<p>Also check out scholastic’s art & writing awards program.</p>
<p>Try writing a letter to the editor of your local paper. Make it thoughtful and reasoned and they might publish it.</p>
