Writing Q please help! :o

This is a question from improving paragraphs, but I guess it's possible to be answered like an improving sentence question. Please help me out! :)

Which of the following is the best version of the underlined portions of sentences 10 and 11 (
(reproduced below)?

For instance, one candidate might want to eliminate environmental regulations

B) for the financial benefit of his industrial supporters, but to the detriment of your asthma and your favorite swimming lake, which are harmed by pollution.
D) for his industrial supporters' wealth, but not for your asthma and your favorite swimming lake is harmed by pollution

The correct answer is B) but I couldn't decide between B) and D).

Thanks!

In D, “your favorite swimming lake is harmed by pollution” is a sentence on its own, so it doesn’t make sense to just add it on to the end. Meanwhile, B correctly associates the pollution with the asthma and swimming lake, so it is correct.

Also, B just sounds better.

There’s a parallelism problem with D.

B is the better choice (although there should not be a comma preceding the word “but” in either sentence).
