<p>The correct answer is D, but I choose C. Is there something wrong with choice C?</p>

<p>The two phrases tied together by the conjunction “because” ideally should be parallel. In (C) they aren’t. Further in (C) the phrase “their eggs …” does not match the structure of the two other examples. (D) has neither problem.</p>
