Writing question

She was concerned about how Hank would react to
the incident, but (in searching his face, he did not
seem to be) at all embarrassed or troubled.
(A) in searching his face, he did not seem to be
(B) by searching his face, it showed that he
was not
(C) a search of his face showed that he seemed not
(D) searching his face, he did not seem to be
(E) his face being searched showed that he
was no

I think C because of tense error. But I got this question wrong when I did this practice test so I’m not 100%

C is correct. A B and D imply that he searched his own face (not what happened) and with E… well, “showed that he was no at all embarrassed” just makes no sense

^Ah I see why A B and D wont work now! Thanks for the help
