a. ------
b. CANADIANS’ ELECTION OF A MEMBER OF THE PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY AS PRIME MINISTER WAS KIM CAMBELL
c. KIM CAMBELL OF THE PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY WAS ELECTED PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA—I chose this one wanna know why it’s wrong
d. THE PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY’S KIM CAMBELL WAS ELECTED PRIME MINISTER OF CANADIANS
e. A MEMBER OF THE PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY, KIM CAMBELL, WAS ELECTED BY CANADIANS AS PRIME MINISTER

Correct answer they say as A… I think it has to do with the fact that C does not mention Canadians in it but I was wondering if their was a specific grammar rule…

You need commas before and after: "OF THE PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE PARTY" on C.

^I don't know about that. But either way, there are some better reasons as to why C is wrong.

1) Subject pronoun disagreement. In the first phrase, "their" is used. In C, KIM is the subject. KIM, a singular noun, does not match "their", a plural possessive pronoun.

2) Passive voice. I'm not sure if Passive VS Active voice is tested on the SAT's, but C uses passive voice which is not what you want.

''A'' seems fine ;)
