Writing questions - Online Course Test #6

Section 5

33

I put B at first, but at the very end changed it to C. B is definitely more correct now that I look at both, but I don't see why choice C is "that" wrong. I get the idea that sentence 9 speculates on a type of ritual, then sentence 10 basically says "for example, the ritual might have been a sort of drama in which Smith and Pocahontas played roles."

These are from Section 10

7

"wary of" is an idiom, correct? It's not correct to feel "wary toward" something is it?

9

Got this one right, just wondering why. I know it's "more" correct to say, for example, "the rigors of working and of studying" as opposed to "the rigors of working and studying," but why?

14

E is the only correct choice because the other choices have errors in parallelism?

For #33, sentence is not really an "example." It's not "illustrating" the idea. On the other hand, its almost like an "add-on", just more evidence.

For #7, I put C..."wary of" Is that right? I'm not sure.

For #9, it should be "of working" and "of studying." Both need an "of" at the beginning.

For #14, yea, E is correct.

I get it for number 33.

7 Yeah wary of is correct. I'm thinking that "wary of" is the correct idiom, not "wary toward."

9 OK.

14 OK.
