<p>I chose D because well, it just didn't sound right to me. I don't have a grammatical justification for this, so can anyone explain why it should be "continue" instead of "continues"?</p>

<p>Should it be "debate about"? or "debate on"?</p>

<p>The first woman in the United States to be granted a patent was Mary Dixon Kies, her new method for weaving straw with other fibers proved useful to hatmakers. NE.</p>

<p>I'm going with B on this one because of the run-on. But when is it appropriate to use "to be"? Didn't this event happen in the past?</p>
