<p>I’ll guess that the last one is do to “it”. “It” doesn’t clearly refer to anything.</p>

<p>For the second to last one: Who spent seven years correct the text? Not the edition, but the person himself.</p>

<p>For the first improving sentences question: Take out the phrase modifying Matthew Henson and we get this: </p>

<p>-In believing that- firsthand experience would add to the credibility of her biography of Matthew Henson, the author spent a winter north of the Arctic Circle.</p>

<p>If it was D, then it would be a comma splice.</p>

<p>I have no idea for the first question, but I will take a guess: accurate should be accurately.</p>
