writing section importance

How much does the writing part of the SAT count at Dartmouth? on my naviance account, it only says the 25-75% scores out of 1600. Does that mean the writing part has minimal weight?

Dartmouth looks at your score out of 2400, so aim for a combined score of at least 2200. The Writing section does count and Dartmouth utilizes your SAT Reading and Writing section to determine your placement in freshman writing. If you score high (>750 on both sections), you place out of a writing class. If you do poorly (<620 on either section), you get placed into a more extensive writing class. If you score in between, you take normal freshman writing.

well I’ve got an 800 in M, 730 in CR, and 710 in W. 1530/2240. Should I retake?
My sat ii scores are:Math 2-800, Chem-720, USH-710.

Have you only taken them once? If you’ve only taken them once, I’d retake just to see…less stress, more familiarity with the test, all of that. But if you’ve taken them multiple times already, your scores are probably about what they’ll be and they aren’t bad, so I wouldn’t waste the money.

You’re in pretty good shape. If you think you can raise your score by like 40 points (arbitrary number), then retake it. As always, applying ED helps a bit.
