WUSTL isn't the most well known school...so why is the acceptance rate so low?

^ You created an account just for me. I am so touched…

Believe this: Columbia > Duke >>> WUSTL. That’s why I did not apply to WUSTL. HTH. Given my (over) qualifications and lack of general interest, I’d have been WLed…

"Given my (over) qualifications and lack of general interest, I’d have been WLed… "

No, you’d be rejected. Oh u know what…I believe that u were rejected cos you’re so bitter about WashU. =)

I sincerely doubt I could’ve been rejected from WUSTL if I had tried, but stranger things have happened. That said, I don’t see a WUSTL rejection as necessarily a bad thing nor do I feel badly for WUSTL rejectees. It’s kind of a blessing in disguise for them. At least they don’t have to spend an eternity explaining where they went to school.

IG, you need to get a life. You never applied to WashU and therefore do not know a thing about it except what you read. And for the record, people who know about colleges know what a good school WashU is. BTW, my sister-in-law graduated from WashU years ago and has a PhD plus a Harvard law degree. So much for your Ivy rejects theory.

FOLKS: Wash U is one of the best, most appealing universities in the country, with an excellent reputation among anyone who knows about this stuff.
So why are so many of you getting defensive and feeling a need to feed this jerk of a ■■■■■?
Stop wasting your time. He needs to get a life and the rest of you need to move on with yours.

Your SIL is the exception to the rule.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/washington-university-st-louis/783905-wustls-law-school-placement.html</a></p>

WUStL’s law school placement is almost precisely where one would expect it. For example:

Yale Law 09/10
Georgetown 6
Northwestern 6
Johns Hopkins 5
WUStL 5
Emory 3
Rice 3

Straight from the (WUSTL) horse’s mouth (post #10):

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/washington-university-st-louis/783905-wustls-law-school-placement.html</a></p>

That doesn’t help your point. The question is not so much how well WUStL does as it is how well WUStL does relative to its peers.

Its peers for law school placement seem to be Hopkins, Northwestern, etc. Unless you can show that those schools have better placement elsewhere (i.e. not Yale, where they clearly don’t), it’s rather difficult to claim that WUStL has substandard law placement.

Just ignore the guy. He is obviously a liar and rather mentally disturbed in other ways. He could not possibly have gotten into any school of note since when it was pointed out that his sentence that tied chemistry to the life sciences was factually inaccurate, he disputed it by asking “where did I say that?” When it was clearly pointed out where he said it, he just referred back to his statement “where did I say that?” That kind of person cannot engage in rational discourse.

WCASParent is right, best to just ignore such a creature. It is a classic debating mistake to try and argue with a person that started the argument with (in this case) multiple false premises. I tried once, that was a mistake also. No matter how tempting it is to engage him, it is far better to ignore him and then he will go away.

How do your repeated ad hominem attacks (see also post #75) constitute “rational discourse”?

What exactly does a WUSTL student know about getting into “any school of note”?

Well said, fallenchemist! =)

IG, you cannot judge a school based on the number of Nobel laureates it has produced. Maybe if you really cared about winning a Nobel prize, you would look at the top ranked schools, but most people just want to have a solid college education/experience so they can go on to live happy lives. If washU, or any other school, is able to provide a solid foundation for its students, then that alone is enough to warrant praise. You have to look beyond the rank/status of a school to see its true merits.

Ignore the guy. We all know it is a false premise, you just encourage him to write back.

Depends. Are H,Y, and P the only schools of note? I came across many students who were at WUSTL over places like MIT, Penn (myself included), Dartmouth, Brown, Columbia, Chicago, and so on. So I’d guess they know a thing or two.

That’s mainly because WU$TL offers merit money; the Ivies don’t.

If a supermarket gives away free coupons, does this mean that its groceries are just as good? No, it means that the supermarket needs to attract customers to shop there.

Why continue to amuse the ■■■■■? Let him be and have an argument with himself.

hey interesting guy, you didnt answer my post in the duke thread, so hopefully you can give me a straight answer here. why do you bash duke and washu so much? theyre both good colleges. hypsm are better, but no need to rub it in all the time. washu is still one of the best colleges in the us. so why the bashing? if you really got accepted to a college better than duke and washu, why are you wasting your time coming here to bash them? dont you have other things to do?

plbro - come on, just let it be. The guy is an ass and continuing to prod him just keeps it going.

BTW, “better” is a meaningless term in this case. HYP schools are not better for everyone, even those who are admitted to them. Many choose to go elsewhere for reasons besides money.
