I have just received notification that I have been selected as a Summer Scholar in Biology and Biomedical Research. Does this definitively imply that I have been admitted to the university?

It means exactly what it says–that you’ve been accepted into the summer scholars bio whatnot thingy. It doesn’t guarantee acceptance into the university for any other program, including undergraduate enrollment.

In other words, yes, you have been admitted into the university–for their summer program only.

I should add that this is for Washington University in St. Louis. Please reply if you are some kind of authority on the subject and know definitively (as in, you have participated in the program, are affiliated with Wash U, etc.).

Thanks.

chaseholl is correct.

If you wanted a definitive answer, you would, of course, contact the university itself, not some random strangers on a forum.

But in any case, I guarantee my answer is correct. Just because you get into a summer program doesn’t mean you get admitted for any other program. I can have a coupon for milk at the supermarket but it doesn’t mean I get 50% off eggs, too.

Thank you guys for your input but I did just call the school and an acceptance into the program is as good as an acceptance to the university.

Just for the record, it’s not any old summer program. I had to apply for it with all of the other WashU merit scholarships, and it’s very selective. I’m excited.

Ah, you meant [this program](http://www.nslc.wustl.edu/Research/SSBBR/index.html), which says “Participation in the Summer Scholars Program in Biology and Biomedical Research is limited to students who will enter Washington University as full-time freshmen the following fall.”

I misread your question as referring to [the regular “Summer Scholars” pre-college program](http://summerexperiences.wustl.edu/scholars).

I hope this highlights the importance of contacting the university itself and not people on a forum!

Yea this should not be in the “Summer Program” forum lol. But congrats!
