WUSTL vs. Notre Dame

Hello! I plan on majoring in biology, possibly doing pre-med, and I am deciding between Notre Dame and Washington University in St. Louis. Here are some of my positives and negatives: (also, they both come down to about $10,000 a year)
WUSTL:
-spent three days here
-very friendly people/feel like I would fit in really well
-DIII cross country team/loved the team and coach
-worried about keeping GPA up if I major in Biology and decided to go to med school (friend there has a 3.3 and is way smarter than me)
-worried about large amount that drop out of Bio or BME
-follow them on Facebook and it seems like people don't like there school/study all the time

Notre Dame:
-farther away
-not as sure if I would fit in as well
-has a major/program that I really like (APPL)
-feels like people really love their school
-not as cool of a city as St. Louis
-love the sports teams/school spirit
-My twin brother is going here

Any comments, suggestions, past experiences with the school??? Thanks a ton everyone!

I’m also a current high school senior. I don’t know a lot about WUSTL but I will most likely be going to ND this fall, so I thought I would share my thoughts on Notre Dame with you. They might help, but keep in mind that I might be a little biased because I have a lot of Irish pride haha

 1. I never visited WUSTL so I don’t know how friendly the people are there but I spent a weekend living on campus at Notre Dame and my host and the current students there were some of the most friendly/welcoming people I have ever met.
 2. I guess it really depends what you are looking for but Notre Dame does have a great intramural program that would let you continue to run cross country. I know it’s not competing for the school, but you compete for your dorm, so the team pride is still there which I think is awesome. (I plan to play interhall soccer and hockey at ND and my host said that he met some of his best friends from the interhall teams)
 3. South Bend isn’t a great city, but I think that with Chicago being close and there being so much to do on campus, the city of South Bend isn’t really a “problem” for students.
 4. The school pride and how much people love their school at ND is unmatched.
 5. When it comes down to it, you have to make the decision for yourself. I few tips people gave me to decide are flip a coin for it but don’t actually look at the result. You will know in your heart which way you hope it lands and that’s where you should go. Or think about how you reacted to the acceptance letters. That might give a good indication as well.

No question~there is a huge difference between these schools. There is no school spirit at WUSTL. Have good friends with kids that have gone, or are there now, and it is the universal feeling, which I think is sad. One friend’s daughter is even graduating early to “get out of there”. You will not see this at ND. The students love it, and never want to leave. Also, for med school, ND has one of the highest med school placement percentages in the country. My daughter, a 2nd year med student, graduated from ND two years ago and loved it!
