Which should I read for summer reading? I am a guy, if that matters.

So far, I've only read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which was amazing, and started "Much Ado About Nothing." :-(

Oh! Tess of the D'Urbervilles!

I really love Thomas Hardy, I think he's one of the most underrated English authors. I have no idea if gender makes a difference in reading it lol, but I found that I was a bit disappointed by Wuthering Heights. It wasn't bad by any means though, so don't be discouraged! I just prefer Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

I second the recommendation of Tess especially since you're a guy. I could never get through Wuthering Heights, so it could be a really great book once the plot developed but Tess was a great read and I would highly recommend it.

wuthering heights was impossible for me to comprehend without my teacher passing out a family tree of the characters....it gets too confusing with the names and stuff

I read Wuthering Heights, and it was so boring that I wrote my book report without finishing it. I didn't even look at Spark Notes, I just picked the topic about style and mood and ran with it. It's great if you like verbosity and psychopaths.

just watch the tess of dubervilles movie

Oh geez, I didn't know there was a movie!

I am an extreme Thomas Hardy nerd. :D

Go with Tess. I love everything by the Brontes except Wuthering Heights.

the wuthering heights movie sucks too

The black and white one? I love that movie!

oh crap I just finished The Fountainhead and the only other book on my list is Wuthering Heights. I'll start it tonight...is it really that bad?

yeah the movie has nastassja kinski in it

We had to read Wuthering Heights for school, and it wasn't that bad - although our teacher helped us a lot on themes/concepts which made it a better experience (ex. identity, Romantic vs. romantic love, boundaries, etc.)

I haven't read Tess, but the WH plot can be a bit slow and there are some confusing scenes. If you can get past that, its relatively enjoyable. Wuthering Heights isn't like a lot of the other stuff the Brontes write, so don't expect it to be something like Jane Eyre.

I read wuthering height on my own and it's not bad...I thought there were only two books from the Brontes...that's famous at least

EverLane, if you want I can give you some titles that aren't so famous by the Brontes! There's Villette, Shirley, The Professor, and the Foundling by Charlotte Bronte, and Agnes Grey and The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte.

I love the Brontes, thought I'd share. :D
