Y isn't UT Austin in the CC Top U's?

I thought this was a very good school

agreedddd.

People who have never been to Texas think that since it’s a ‘southern’ state its not ‘good’
I was ***? Here in California no one really knows about UT that much although its a very good school

Yeah I agree. Its because Texas is in the South and outsiders think its full of cowboys and rednecks. I think UT is almost exactly like Florida but Florida gets more attention because its in a “better” state.

And its because Texas is too isolated, the school needs to open up to outsiders so it can gain national recognition.

I wouldn’t say it is exactly like Florida. Look at the rankings of individual areas of study. UT is ranked in the top 25 of pretty much everything, while Florida is rarely found.

Academically they are tied for best school in America at 47, and best public school at 15.

Sports wise they are similar because they are good football schools and pretty good at basketball. And they are party schools.

I know they are tied in the overall undergrad. They buy their students through scholarships, leading to higher student stats while we have the top ten percent law. Their peer assessment score is not the same, reflecting the strength of the departments at UT compared to UF.

And we aren’t the same in football either. We are going to the national title game while they are not. :)

CC doesn’t rank it high because the demographics of University of Texas in Austin is all in-staters, specifically top 10%. There are few out of state students (because the 20 percent margin of leftover room after all the toptens get in is usually around 20 percent) and the oos are competing with the rest of the in-state-students who missed the cut off mark for top 10%. CC won’t rank high a school concentrated on one state :D

It loses out on US News rankings primarily because of higher acceptance rates and larger class sizes than similar schools.

CC’s top universities and top liberal arts colleges are based on USNWR.

UT’s school of Engineering is number 10 according to US news, with the number 8 school of computer engineering. The business school is also highly regarded with the number one accounting school in the world.

US News is biased towards private schools in general too
