Yahoo article on March prompt, includes Silverturtle

Interesting article...

Reality TV and the SAT: Did students miss the point of the essay question? - Parenting on Shine

From the comments section below:

The fact that ‘g’ isn’t even close to ‘d’ or ‘u’ on the keyboard disturbs me. But that point aside, I agree wholeheartedly with this guy.

Lol I saw that…they quoted one of his posts and it sounded pretty typical. Apparently they think “senior member” is some kind of mod-given title? Anyways congratulations are in order: most people wait years to be quoted on Yahoo’s front page.

Edit: And on NYTimes, of course.

<a href=“SAT’s Reality TV Question Flummoxes Some Takers - The New York Times”>SAT’s Reality TV Question Flummoxes Some Takers - The New York Times;

Also on NY Times.

I was about to PM silverturtle and see if he saw it, but I decided to come here first. Congrats, silverturtle!

Hahaha… The Yahoo article quoted me, too, but not the NY Times one. Well, it’s good to know that someone actually read the thread. :)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1101693-anyone-get-photography-prompt-march-12-test.html#post12149413</a> (Post 13)

These articles have all been misleading. One in particular, the Washington Post article, quotes the “prompt,” but includes the whole blurb above the question, and makes it seem like thats part of the question itself. That little quotation (that was in the grey box on the test) does mention TV, but the question itself just says “entertainment.” Anyone who’s read a novel, read a play, seen a play, seen a movie, seen a tv show, listened to music, etc. has plenty of ammo for this question.

I think the fact that the CB is trying to use pop culture explicitly in the prompt is a little inappropriate, and, admittedly, if you watch a lot of reality TV you would have a lot of examples to use, but that’s only one avenue you could take. You could talk about any books, plays, songs, etc. in your essay and be totally fine. I didn’t mention TV once, and I’m not at all worried (in fact, in light of this controversy, it’s probably a good thing because they might feel pressured to score it easier :)).

CC is makin moves !!

THEY QUOTED ME TOO LOLOLOLOLOL

Quoted here ->[Reality TV and the SAT: Did students miss the point of the essay question? - Parenting on Shine](http://shine.yahoo.com/channel/parenting/reality-tv-and-the-sat-did-students-miss-the-point-of-the-essay-question-2465881/) third paragraph.

LOLOLOLOLOL

They quoted me in NYT.

When I first saw the article, I didn’t realize it was actually published in the paper. You guys make it seem like such an honor, haha.

I’m pretty amused by how a lot of articles are taking my words out of context and at all the comments that essentially say, “Why is she cryinggg? Stop complaining, ugh” They probably think I’m still crying about it
lulz :3

Lol.

But congrats guys, that’s kinda exciting in a super nerdy way.

Haha… Yeah. I meant that it was hard to pick a viewpoint without explicitly referencing the prompt, but I guess Yahoo misinterpreted my remark.

Uhhhh… A little late, but are we gonna’ get in trouble from CollegeBoard? I sort of forgot about that…

woahh, that’s so weird that they’re quoting people from CC… big brother’s watching o_O. :]

WOW. If I got that topic, I would be happy with a 8…

LOL, it’s on the homepage of Yahoo! as of March 19th.
