Princeton decisions come out Wednesday at 3pm. Good luck to everyone.
I’m applying early action and I just keep refreshing the portal to see if maybe the decision will show up early
This wait certainly is its own form of torture–one minute I go from thinking that I have absolutely no chance to another thinking that I may have a shot.
Less than a week to go… eek!
@allhopeisnotlost fellow African here!
Stanford results made me more anxious
I totally feel you @writergirl0316. @WinnerWannabe and myself have multiple people from our summer program get into Stanford, as well as Caltech, CMU, and some people have even matched Duke and Yale.
The pressure is definitely on for those of us that are considered the cream of the crop in our respective areas.
same someone from my summer program got into stanford /: @FreeParish and now everyone is saying “you’ll definitely get into yale!” but will I really though…
also how come yale doesn’t have a results thread yet
Stanford rea was BRUTAL … holy crap
Yeah, does someone want to start one? @cliffnotes
Just made one @cliffnotes @writergirl0316
Just a thought – I saw on the Princeton thread that a lot of the SCEA applicants were filling out the Acceptance/Deferral/Rejection forms & complimenting each other on highlights in their application as a way to pass the time between now and Thursday. Anyone interested in doing that here?
In all honesty, as great as this college forum is, I just wanted to share a personal reflection on such sites and the college admissions process in general. As decisions come up, I have been recently feeling unfulfilled and dejected regarding how my accomplishments compare to others applying to Yale–national science fair champions and those with perfect test scores. How the heck could a kid like me get in over these intellectual powerhouses? Anyways, I guess where this scatterbrained post was meant to go is that comparing yourself to these people is like comparing apples to oranges–for we are each our own unique person and have found our ways through life in different ways. We can’t frown upon ourselves for taking a different path than somebody else, but rather we can admire the path we paved ourselves. No matter whether you get in or not, don’t question your worth over the path that somebody else took.
I’m right there with ya @Benji3025 – the problem with rejections is they feel personal, and you feel like you have been personally attacked. I think it’s better to say that it’s a blessing, as cheesy as that is-- why would you want to go somewhere where they think your talents don’t fit?
Viewing past applicants depresses me (and the likelihood of deferral and rejection does so even more), but then I remember they likely never learned to play the ukulele or fell asleep with their favorite foster dog or any one of the millions of things that makes me me, so it is useless to feel they have done more.
Most of you will probably disagree, but one thing I dislike when it comes to Yale is the production of videos like the “That’s Why I Toured Yale” video @becky7700 shared. I feel as though those productions commodify education and try to sell you something. I get that they are trying to inform people of all Yale has to offer, but for some reason those things just turn me off. Idk how to explain it. Lmk what y’all think.
@FreePariah I disagree to some extent. I think it’s also become a communal thing by this point (source: friend at Yale), a way everyone comes together and has some (silly) fun/express their pride for their school.
I definitely get where you’re friend is coming from, cause it seems really fun to film/be a part of, but at least as an outsider my perception is totally different @hope469
@writergirl0316 that sounds like a fun idea! I’ve been constantly reviewing my app in my head anyway and I don’t think it’s helping my anxiety haha. Yale is so insanely difficult to get into, so idk if what I consider to be my strengths are viewed as anything amazing by the adcoms…
