My friend got rejected today from Cornell, and that made me anxious about Thursday :/// I still feel like there’s no chance of getting an acceptance letter since they didn’t even bother to interview me …
@jaclynoo it totally depends on where you live and the resources available, i googled it and found a bunch of forums written by real yale interviewers, i would not sweat it
Yeah do not worry about whether or not you get an interview, my interviewer used to be one of the people in charge of Yale’s alumni system and assigning people to interviewers. He said that they ask each alumni how many people they want to interview, and then randomly just take that number of people from their area until they run out of alumni to interview them. But he made sure to tell me multiple times that the fact that I’d gotten an interview didn’t mean anything about if I would get in…
You kids should add a section to your results thread that says if you had an interview, how long after app submission you were contacted and where you are located so that you can help settle the nerves of those that stress over the interview process each year.
Did anyone notice the admission portal page get 403 error last night for some brief time? it is back to normal now. I wonder what that meant.
I just looked through last year’s results thread and these people’s stats are CRAZY (omygosh). Now I’m more worried than ever… 2 more days y’all, we’ll make it!!
I have never commented on this specific forum before but I just think it is worthwhile to share something real quick.
To everyone here, regardless of whether we get in or not,
I think we must remember to applaud ourselves for all of the hard work we have put in. This was no small feat and even though, yes, it might sting if we do not receive an acceptance, we can not balance our worth upon this decision. We can not waste time wondering where we went wrong, or what the others had that we didn’t. Yale may be a dream, the goal we were all working towards, but in the end, we deserve credit for trying. We have persevered and rose high among the others, and for this, I think we should all congratulate one another.
To everyone here,
I wish you luck. This wish of mine may hold little significance to you, but I think it is crucial to recognize the magnitude of the journey we have undertaken together. Yale would be lucky to have any of us.
i just read last year’s thread and so few got accepted, only makes me more nervous
@cavsin7 I’m avoiding looking at any of those sorts of threads. There’s no use in comparing myself with others and just getting down. Instead I keep going over my application in my head and wondering about what I could have possibly done better ugh
Help! My parents just realized that the tax returns they submitted through the IDOC weren’t signed. Will this impact my chance of admission? Or will Yale (or any other school that I submitted the document to) email me asking for a signed version if it is necessary?
yea it will
Was this in response to me?
@mathNerd1100 I don’t think it will since Yale practices need-blind admissions. I think that I would wait until Thursday and see what the result is. If you are accepted/deferred then you should contact them and let them know about the mistake. Although the recommended deadline for financial aid stuff has passed they should probably be understanding.
From their financial aid website:
“If you miss the deadline, your provisional award information may arrive after your admissions decision. However, you are still eligible to apply for financial aid, and your award will not be reduced because of late submission. Please submit all documents as soon as possible; the more quickly you complete your file, the sooner you will receive your provisional financial aid decision.”
Hopefully that helped!!! (Us Yalie wannabes have to stick together)
@MyDogsNameIsFat Yes, thank you so much!
This is my first time writing on any thread on CC, but I’ve been on here reading your guys’ comments everyday, and feeling such a sense of community. This process sucks, and the next few days will be rough, and even though I don’t know any of you personally, I love you all and wish you the best. We put our blood, sweat, and tears into our high school careers and those applications, and I’m honestly sure that each one of us deserves to hear that Yale fight song on Thursday at 5.
Everyone always says that the admissions decision isn’t a reflection of your worth, and I know that it’s totally true, but it’s also, as I’m sure you’ll all agree, so hard to believe sometimes.
I’m glad that to some degree we all have each other throughout this process, because although friends and family try hard they truly can’t understand.
I don’t know about you guys, but one of the hardest parts of this process is that all my friends are already accepted, and really had no chance of rejection.
Anyway, I rambled, but good luck to everyone on Thursday, and I’m sure I’ll be lurking on this thread 24/7 for the next few days.
Two days count down…
I don’t feel that they are still making any decisions at this point… the office may get busy with printing the acceptance letters and preparing the online notifications…
People keep telling me that “You will be accepted to Yale… SCEA has an acceptance rate of 14%, so it should be easy for you”… they have no idea of how much the competition is like in SCEA round…
Good luck to everyone, and I really hope that many of you will get accepted.
What do you guys think are the chances that the decisions will be postponed until a bit after 5? I know it’s happened before and I was wondering if it would be likely to happen again this year
I was also not given an interview. Heard it’s almost a random process for who gets interviews and who doesn’t. either way 95% of us are getting denied and an alumni interview carries very little weight in the long run
@MyDogsNameIsFat I hope its not
I feel like I’ve waited a year for this decision and I hope it isn’t delayed any longer…just want to rip off the band-aid ASAP.
Yup, I love the love and support going on in this thread! Best of luck to everyone and whatever they’re doing in the next 1.5 days – I’m keeping my fingers crossed for all of you as well
