@amsupersand Oh wait I take it back, I actually did watch that series! I was thinking about the “ACCEPTANCE” movie, I never finished that one. That series really made me appreciate how supportive my parents are of me. Even though they are Asian parents that want me to do well, they have never seriously pressured me and always care about my well-being. If I had parents like Sophie’s I’m not sure if I would have been able to hold up against that pressure. And to anyone on this thread who maybe does have to deal with that level of pressure, you have a whole bunch of other stressed out seniors willing to support you here as a collective stress ball!
It may not be Yale, but wherever we end up we’ll turn out fine. It’s what you make out of what you got! :)))
@MyDogsNameIsFat oh my parents definitely are the pressuring type…my dad keeps telling me “don’t worry about yale, as long as you get into an ivy it’s fine.” like wow thanks no pressure there…
It’s mostly bc my brother is so smart though, he got into almost all the ivies he applied to, including yale…which he turned down (it makes me so frustrated haha)
This sounds bad, but the worst part about getting rejected for me is having to tell everyone I got rejected. Everyone has been telling me “there’s no way you won’t get in” and I don’t want to see their expressions when I get rejected … they just don’t understand that everyone who applies to absolutely amazing in every regard.
@cliffnotes Hi, never commented before but YES! That is what is going to make it hardest in my opinion. Not just getting over it, but almost disappointing others
@Benji3025 Yale NUS sends a massive amount of Emails throughout the year…I signed up for their mailing list last year…, and they send me many Emails…much much more than Yale… So I don’t think it means anything…
P.S. Yale NUS begins evaluation on Jan 15th, 2018, which means they may not see your file yet.
This is going to sound pretty lame and geeky but I literally started playing a whole new Pokémon game in order to entertain myself while waiting for Thursday haha. What better way to distract yourself from the future than to do a throwback to the past? XD
I’m playing kingdom of loathing-- it’s a lit game with cute stick figure enemies that has literally the best sense of humor I have ever seen online. For example, you need to pass a literacy test administered by the ghost of the English language to use the chat.
It’s totally free, the holiday season of Crimbo/Hanukkimbo arrives tomorrow, and it’s a great way to sink some hours.
Good luck to you all!! I still love Yale, even though my son applied SCEA last year and got deferred and then ultimately rejected in March. Yale is a wonderful school and in my opinion is the one of the best in the world. My son us very happy now where he ended up and he did get many acceptances and great scholarship offers from other non-Ivy schools. I truly believe that he ended up where he was meant to be. Good luck to all of you on Thursday. If you get deferred, make sure to send in updated info etc. sometime in January or early February and hope for the best.
