ty @ivybeenc
@ivybeenc thanks for that. My interviewer keeps not calling when she says she will (today was the third time) and your post really helped my stress.
When do decisions come out?
the 28th @AnthonyZ
Huh I just received an email an hour ago reminding me about unsubmitted financial aid materials but I’ve submitted everything over a month ago, and this late :\
@filipiyes don’t think that fin documents will make or break admission decision. Just send them as soon as you can and do followup with fin aid office by email that you did send it before however you did and you just did it again now however you do it.
Idk about Yale, but I know if some Ivies send that to you its because they are going to send you your financial aid with your acceptance @filipiyes
I applied to Yale this year. Yale’s website says you only need to submit a mid year report if you have received grades till 1 feb. I contacted them and they waived it off. But my counsellor submitted the MYR on the 24th of feb and my application portal says waived and then received as well. Will they review the mid year report? The mid year report had past the 1st feb deadline
My counselor forgot to submit my mid-year grades for a few schools, including Yale. Is it too late to fix this? Williams came out today and I got waitlisted and I noticed my mid-year grades were missing. The first semester ended late January.
@Dovahkiin012200 same. I’m having them submit everything this week and hopefully it’ll get in soon enough. Good luck dude
It’s going to be a long two weeks
It’s a little less than two weeks now…
Yale also says on it’s website that it’s pretty chill about financial aid stuff, as long as you get them done in a timely manner for you.
nervous
Thanks for the assurance, guys. By any chance did anyone else receive the financial aid email?
@filipiyes I received it as well! My mom called in and I was missing non-custodial info. They said they needed the info to determine my “financial aid award.” I know this doesn’t mean I’ll be accepted, but I am quite curious about their wording and the timing of the correspondence.
@stargirll Ahh same, not expecting anything but the wording and seeing how not many others got it made me quite concerned
@Sminitrious
Haha my financial aod situation has been nothing but chill… they told me i was missing something three times but only replied to me about what i was missing the third time i asked… blugh
Yea, I wouldn’t speculate too much about FA emails…I’ve been on several highly selective threads where people got emails about FA documents days before decisions came out and many of them ended up getting rejected. I think it’s odd they ask a few days before decisions come out because they know it’ll just raise hopes. Then again, FA is typically completely independent from admissions at most top-tier schools, so it makes sense. Don’t read into it.
Regarding interviews, from what I can tell, I feel like they really don’t do much at Yale. When I had mine, my interviewer was really young and super nice, but I felt like it was too informal for it to have any real impact. She noted my passion and we stuck to my main ECs, which was nice because I’m really involved, but I think the interview will help the admissions committee see that while I’m involved in multiple things through out the year, I’m not all sporadic and I’m genuinely passionate about these activities. They really just want it to be super conversational and informational I guess…I even tried to give her my resume and she said “No, thanks” because she wanted me to be all comfortable.
If it helps, I did an on-campus interview with WUSTL and got rejected and 2 other people from my school got accepted, but neither (or at least 1 of the 2) even bothered to do an interview in our city. WUSTL is HUGE on interest, btw…so, it is what it is. At a school like Yale, with all the factors they consider, not having an interview isn’t a big deal. For those who randomly get one, like me, it just help admissions get a better picture of us, doubt it’ll have a huge effect though.
