Yale accepts C student

I received a C in biology, chemistry, and physics. My overall GPA is in the 3 point something range and I have over 2000 on my SATs. I really hope Yale accepts me. They always say they are looking for diversity. Maybe, academice diversity (not being valedictorian or a national merit finalist) also applies.

Please pray for me.

I do hope you get in, but by “acedemic diversity” they mean it in a rigorious way. Not being a merit finalist or valedictorian isn’t acedemic diversity…it just means you aren’t a merit finalist or a valedictorian.

The prayers for you would be that you’ve applied to a broader range of schools than HYP. Unless you’re a ■■■■■.

“academic diversity”? Puh-leez

I note that the folks on the Princeton forum didn’t dignify this with a response.

Maybe ■■■■■■ are URM?

Good luck with that academic diversity thing. My totally lovable canine, Eli Fourpaw, is also applying, and we figure a combination of academic and species diversity should get him over the top.

You all should be ashamed of yourselves. These last moments before decisions arrive are quite intense, and for all of you to mock my plea for advice and insights from the CC community is appaling. I hope the universities were able to see your true personalities shine brightly through your college essays. If you have nothing better to do but make disparaging comments, I suggest you all study and work hard. Otherwise, you’ll be flipping burgers at Mike’s hamburger house where you all belong and where you can insult others profusely. Good luck with college! But, I’m afraid most colleges expect their students to maintain a certain level of proper conduct.

I think ■■■■■. It’s a good phrase though… ‘academic diversity’ might get a laugh out of an admissions officer, but i’m pretty sure it’s not going to get you in.

Since you plead your case that it was a sincere question, then I fully apologize. However, I think you’ll find that HYP rejects the vast vast majority of people with near perfect GPAs and upper percentile SAT/ACT scorers and valedictorians, etc.

When I give info sessions, I tell students & parents that IF the student is one of the top handful of scholars in the HS, well-known by the staff and pricipal – then he or she might be a viable applicant (of course unless he/she has some significant hook). By implication, if a student doesn’t have this criteria, my opinion is that they are not a viable applicant based on my years of recruiting. “Academic diversity” is not an institutional goal at HYP.

It’s through that lens that I judged your chances. I’m sorry that I interpreted your posts as insincere, flaming posts, meant to generate controversial replies. Good luck to you, wherever you decide to attend.

We can solve this easily.

Where did you get in?

Meaningless question, since if a ■■■■■ there’d be no requirement to tell the truth…

If not, good luck.
