Yale Additional Letter of Rec

I got an email from my Yale admissions counselor asking for another letter of rec… is this a good sign?

"I am writing because I saw that your application includes letters of recommendation from TEACHER 1 and TEACHER 2. The Admissions Committee will consider both of these letters but would appreciate the opportunity to review an additional letter of recommendation from a teacher in a core academic subject (mathematics, science, social studies, foreign language, or English). This new letter will be considered along with the letters we already have on file.

Thank you in advance for your help. Please let me know if you have any questions about this request. You can rest assured that this will have no negative effect on the evaluation of your application."

When did you get this request?

Was one of your letters not from a core academic teacher? You’re supposed to submit two core academic letters, and if your obsession is a non-core subject (dance, music, art, whatever), maybe a letter from your teacher in that area.

I would say that this means that your application was incomplete, and the fact that they bothered to inform you, and ask you to complete it, means that at least they were considering you. Or it could have been from an office underling who, noticing that you didn’t have two letters from core subject academic teachers, simply emailed you asking that you complete your application.

I got it in mid-January from the associate of admissions. I applied prospectively for theatre and had a recommendation from my theatre teacher and my AP US history teacher.

well, you will find out tomorrow.

Didn’t they ask you to submit a recommendation letter from a friend like this one? I have just been reviewing different types of recommendation letters, and I can’t find out what colleges ask for them? Do they have any value? Your friend is always someone interested in your success and someone who’ll present you in a better light.
