Anyone else had an on campus interview? I wonder how much weight-age they have. couldn’t tell how mine went, my interviewer was either fascinated by the book “The Alchemist” which I described and talked about, or thinking I was some spiritual nut who lived by the values of the book, either way, I’m sure I made an impression

ohh i did an on campus
it didn’t go very well…only 20 minutes because the person before was late, i forgot my business cards and we didn’t really have anything in common
overall it felt really rushed so hopefully it has really little impact on my application

Interviews don’t really matter that much, so don’t worry about it, haha.

A local student got a full ride to Yale. I’m pretty sure he got a likely and that it was for an ROTC scholarship. But that’s what I’ve heard. Not sure if it’s true. I didn’t know they gave likely letters for people unless they were athletes!

sigh I guess it’s starting.

I think committee actually started today.

What’s committee? I’m applying to Harvard early so if this is a Yale thing then I’m not familiar with it :P

I think Harvard has the same thing. It’s when the admissions officers get together and begin discussing applicants.

Committee started today?? They’re doing all of our 4,000+ apps in 14 DAYS??

Yale is cray, I love it.

I think what happens is they first cut people that just don’t make the academic cutoff. And I think (but I don’t know) they have two+ readers evaluate the applicants and they cut more people there. And I’m pretty sure they cut more people somewhere else…

So, I don’t think they’re really making decisions in committee on 4000+ cases :)

“Committee started today?? They’re doing all of our 4,000+ apps in 14 DAYS??”

I’m sure they’ve narrowed it down quite a bit by now.

Some of us have already been deferred/rejected :o :(

But no one gets accepted without going through committee.

ahhh to think that our decision might decision might already have been made : /

What sucks most, for me, is that other than December 14th, all of my other decisions don’t come back until April 1st. I’m going to be in the dark until freakin’ April.

ealdi: you realize that most college bound seniors are waiting on Apr 1st, right? Not that many apply to ED or EA schools in the big scheme of things. Plz relax.

@runnerxc: Yale gives no “full ride” merit scholarships. Only need-based FinAid is available from Ivy schools. An ROTC scholarship would be an outside item

I thought the first round of reading your app was the geographical area person who decides if it moves on (so possibly only one person may read the app and reject it on spot)?

I doubt it. It’s true that the first person that reads it is your region admissions officer, but I’m pretty sure at least two people would have to read it to ensure continuity and equity (?) in the admissions process.

Good luck to everyone!!!
The thing is I know that even if I get rejected (touchwood, please no), that I’ll go somewhere great!! so will all of us, so chins up :’)

Hoping for the best. Gd luck everyone!

what is an ROTC scholarship?
