Well… it doesn’t look like my speculations were too far off :o

@T26E4 I know a lot of seniors are waiting for April 1st, but most of my friends are either already accepted at schools via rolling admissions or will hear from 5 or 6 of them by mid December via non-restrictive EA…regardless, my apologies if I came across as whining or frustrated - just letting it all out.

In other news, I had my interview today and it went very well. Even though they do not account for much, it relaxed me a little knowing that I have now officially done all that I can.

Is that true? I thought everyone heard on one day Dec 14th or are decisions trickling in? If so, SCEA Pledges should be updating.

If you read Admissions Confidential, you’ll get a pretty decent idea of how elite school admissions works.

No, no one’s heard back yet (except maybe for athletes/superstars), but it’s possible that the committee’s already made decisions on some of our apps.

Committees have made decisions on some of our apps already, but they won’t release said decisions until the 14th.

Not true. Questbridge finalists have heard back already about their status, and some have been matched and some have not.

Gingko, I was not referring to QB applicants.

redboldx: for ROTC, just google. It’s for officers of our military branches. At Yale, there is a Naval ROTC unit.

Wait…so in the committee does EVERYONE read the essays? Or does the person presenting just say, “Oh, this was a good/bad essay…” and then have them vote?

They probably summarize and recount favorite quotations, reading completely those essays they deem necessary to read through completely.

Yeah, I agree. I think committees proceed on a case by case basis; once applications get to committee, everything proceeds according to the strength of the application and what the committee members want to know.

Is it true that Y gets a lot more humanities majors than science majors? And would that affect chance of admission?

Sorry about all the questions, everyone! I’m new to CC and kind of anxious, even though I should be more relaxed, seeing as the app has already been submitted.

“Is it true that Y gets a lot more humanities majors than science majors? And would that affect chance of admission?”

Yes it does and Y is fully capable of taking in all those Humanities majors. Yale wants to boost its STEM areas so an attractive candidate with that strength might be a boost. However, bio majors and the typical pre-med, are not in short supply so no boost there.

hehe just made a results thread for this year…i’ve always wanted to make one of those
