Yale Class of 2017 SCEA Discussion thread

Don’t they shred the rejected files?

^^ wow, even better

@mango hehe who doesn’t love shinee? lol. And I think it’s more likely that im getting an interview at this point because im deferred, which I guess isn’t a bad thing bc I won’t have my hope up on friday

lololol

But it’s probably all or mostly electronic. So.

@canadian2013 I had my interview back on November 2nd, and the interviewer contacted me back in October, so I don’t know if they were doing mine because I had already decided that I was deferred.

Haha I’m really not sure. I’d be surprised if interviews really had that much weight in the application process. As my Harvard interviewer said, interviews are only there for you to ask as many questions as you need, but they can only do you good…unless you’re a total closet freak, and the adcoms didn’t catch that from the rest of your application haha

@lucya01995 I’ve looked at the decision threads from the past few years and quite a few people who didn’t get interviews get accepted…

Not sure why people are getting interviews now though. My interviewer said the firm deadline was about Dec. 1st so that has to be people on the edge… Of course I don’t really know, but that’s my interpretation. But @somesmores said all decisions have been made so who knows…?

I don’t think they would be doing them to convince students to come to Yale because don’t they send likely letters for that reason?

@cotaylo but your interview took place well before the interview report was due for early (:

my interviewer said the interview is really important if they’re deciding between two nearly identical applicants, otherwise there is little weight at all

are most of the people who get accepted without interviews the ones who live in rural areas that don’t have many alum though?

So there’s some days this week like Wednesday and Friday I have basically nothing (including an online class at home ahh the agony of waiting) but then days like Today and Thursday I’m swamped which I’m happy for (: I have three performances tonight and a separate rehearsal for our top orchestra and choir plus two music classes today hurray music! We also have a winter concert coming up. Does anyone else have a winter concert this week? Fill some of that time until Friday haha

nah the only thing i have after school this week is lifting… nice to do something that takes your mind off of the decision, whatever it is. Friday between 3:20 (when my school ends) and 5:00 will be hell

@shinee9 Yale shawol #2??? If we both somehow get in, can we be roomates? ahaha.

I had my interview on… November 19th, I think? What does that mean? :open_mouth: So many theories floating around!

i have so many tests/projects/essays this week all because our teachers are trying to cram everything in before winter break that it’s ridiculous. although it’s nice for me to be stressed out about something other than the agony of waiting

I’m just chilling out. I know that my possible acceptance is something that could affect the rest of my life, but I’m strangely at peace with this whole Yale thing. They’ve already made their decisions, so now I just get to take part in a really cool new chapter in my life: getting college notifications. Forgive me if I’m being overly nostalgic.

It is 3 days, 21 hours, 51 minutes

Yeah, at this point they’ve already made decisions. Just time to wait…

Btw, I found out I have 5 tests on Friday. It made my day so much better.

@can’tconcentrate normally I would pity you’re situation but now I envy it, the rest of my week consists of one tiny quiz tomorrow and nothing major for until next week

@cantconcentrate that’s actually kind of really lucky
my friends all think i’m crazy because i’m complaining about not having enough work this week! friday will be packed though at least.

I feel like tweeting @YaleUGA and asking them to release earlier as a holiday surprise for us all :p

haha wait do you guys seriously want tons of tests and work this week? I mean it’s not like academic work is the only thing that will distract you from the decision… Every minute you’re not studying is another minute you could be doing whatever fun stuff you do in your free time, which I think is an even better distractor… but maybe I’m just weird

out of curiosity, if all the decisions are made, why wait for friday to post them? Since its online, it really shouldn’t be much of a hassle.

because they want to torture us…penn finds out on wednesday and so do a bunch of my friends who applied to Virginia Tech early

@litotes
Yes! I agree totally - I have no school Thursday and Friday, so I’ll definitely be able to enjoy marathon reading some novels on my to-read list (or marathon watching LOTR movies).
