I’ll finish it myself then, haha.

HOORAY!

I heard that competition for a cappella groups is very intense and competitive.

HOORAY!

I heard that competition for a cappella groups is very intense and competitive.

I could imagine! Since it’s one of Yale’s popular extracurriculars… I wouldn’t go down without a fight though! @CantConcentrate Are you in choir?

I’d love to be in an a cappella group, but they are pretty magnificent, even the not famous ones.

No, I am not. But I “waste” an inordinate amount of time singing everyday, so I’d try out anyways, haha.

Ah, man, choir is my life. It stinks, because GPA at my school is weighted, so Varsity Choir is weighted on a 4.0 scale, while AP courses, such as AP US History, are on the 6.0 scale. Ranking is weighted also… But I stuck it out and was a Women’s and Mixed Varsity Choir Member for four years running, despite the GPA setback.

I wrote that I wish I were better at singing…

So obviously no a cappella for me.

But if I were to get in, I’d join the Yale Political Union and probably run for Freshman Class Council. jkfslfjsdl;kjfsdjfk. so.much.politics. :D

Guys, do you think the adcoms Google you to see what they can come up with?

@stageseeker77 I totally know what you’re talking about with the gpa setback to take classes you want. I love languages and I’ve been taking 2 a year since 7th grade but most of the languages I take don’t have an AP level so I they’re only on the 4.0 scale as opposed to AP classes that are on the 5.0

“do you think the adcoms Google you”?

I can see someone wanting to confirm some award or some claim of a published article or novel of those who look promising. But this kind of extra confirmation wouldn’t be done with the bulk of applicants who don’t make the first or probably second cuts – that’d be a time waster.

I reckon they might google a borderline candidate or someone who has an inconsistent application (conflicting teacher viewpoints etc)

Yeah, I hope they do, because I didn’t have sufficient space to do justice to this one activity and the details are easily searchable by googling my name -______- so nervous GAH

Well unless every single candidate has achievements impressive enough that they warrant a post on the internet, I don’t think googling us is going to yield any substantial results for the adcoms. When I googled myself, all I got were a bunch of irrelevant websites with my name mentioned in them and my school’s babysitter list.

The question was more “would they ever Google an applicant”, rather than “do they Google every single applicant”, but I see what you’re saying.

The only thing that comes up when you google me is my national merit / national achievement combo.

This will change. >.<

some person with my name won a beauty pageant…also my name is reallyy common (i’m asian) but if you google my name plus my city or my main extracurricular then it’s pretty much all me (:

if I google my name and school, I get a couple of articles not really about me, something about NMSF, winning the spelling bee in 8th grade, and a whole bunch of track & field sites. The stats on the track sites aren’t particularly good, either.

Typing in the first few letters of my name autocompletes to my full name and main extracurricular (the one I’m hoping will help me get in haha) so I hope they did…but decisions were finalized a couple days ago AAH

I really doubt they google anyone. But just in case, I uploaded a video of one of my research presentations with my name all over it to YouTube… It comes up on the front page if you google my name haha. Doubt anyone will see it but you never know

Friday is so close but so far :(

2 days, 30 minutes
