UF only has one release date. They don’t have any early admissions

We actually know someone who heard from Fordham with an admission already… which is weird if the announcement is Friday.

^ oops. I’ve just been assembling a list from various sources but generally the list is correct

Does anyone know if UMiami announces when they decide or are they April as well?

The list implies that Yale is one of the last to announce EA or ED. Let’s hope that means a very careful analysis of all applicants and not just an overwhelmingly large # of total applicants.

I, too, am the only person from my school ever to apply to an Ivy. There are 36 students in my class, and I have the highest ACT to ever come from my public high school. I see the accomplishments others have posted, and I am very discouraged. My school offers no AP courses. My guidance counselor, upon hearing of my decision to apply to Yale, looked quizzically at me and simply uttered, “Why?” My recommending teachers, on the other hand, were ecstatic. They both showed me their letters, and they were phenomenal! Can a naive girl from the Midwest truly even stand a chance?

I don’t have AP classes either, and my school somehow manages to teach the exact opposite of what appears on standardized tests. My school sends most kids to art school. Don’t be discouraged–be proud of how much you have accomplished!

The fact that people have even gotten to this point after having spent the last four years in such environments is only a testament to their academic prowess and capabilities. Yale sees it the same way.

Thank you Cutie! You are very kind.

don’t be stressed guys it will all work out!

I hope you are right Mike. If Yale truly looks at what has been offered and how I’ve taken advantage of those offerings, I think I would have a shot. If I’m being compared to the students who come from “feeder schools,” I have no shot whatsoever. I’ve gone above and beyond in my educational endeavors, mostly to stave off the boredom of what my school offers. I took college classes as a 15 year old simply because I was bored. How funny is it that my mom had to drive me to my college classes? I will still be 17 when I finally plant my feet on a college campus. Perhaps my nervousness prompted me to post tonight. Maybe some self-doubt as well.

@Jules

Your application won’t be compared to another application from, say, Andover. You get evaluated based on how you utilized your resources and how you improved the community around you. You won’t get penalized in the slightest for not having taken any AP courses if your school doesn’t offer them. It’s considered standard on CC for someone to take 10+ AP courses, score a 2300+ SAT, and have multiple awards/leadership positions. There is, however, no drawn out formula for an ivy acceptance. You have as much of a shot as we do. :)

@Mario

The information session I went to addressed the issue of being compared to other applicants from other schools. I hope you are right. I’ve tried not getting my hopes up, but at this point the anxiety is getting the best of me. Additionally, I’ve had four snow days to sit and think. After finishing all the anticipated homework from the missed days, I find myself coming to this board to see if anyone has posted anything new. I would study for exams, but I tested out of all my exams, with the exception of my college course. I hope we have school tomorrow!

@Jules I’m also Midwest. I’m sensing a theme! Good luck and I definitely feel your frustration.

@Viv
Thank you, and good luck to you as well!

Ya’ll definitely won’t be judged within the context of feeder schools (andover, exeter, hotchkiss, etc). They are judged against each other, as yale cannot allow 50% of its class to come from prep school. Don’t worry about that.

5 days 18 hours 11 minutes left…but who’s counting?

me… but my fluid mechanics test on Friday is making for a weird mixture of emotions.

Does anyone know when Yale NUS round 1 decisions are going to be announced? also has anyone been offered an interview?

Yale-NUS decisions will be released on the 18th at around 9am EST. I know that I personally have not been offered an interview for yale-nus.
