I have a crush on Dartmouth.
It’s my second choice. The skiing, weather (I love cold weather & snow), academics, campus, and overall feel of the school are all superb.

Keggy’s a nice touch. Have you ever seen the video “drinking time?” It’s hilarious (on youtube). My friend filmed it a few years back.

schoolio: Well, she plans to double major… most likely theatre studies & computer science, & not pursue a BFA program in theatre, so her primary focus was her analysis of the school’s themselves.

She first started with the Hollywood Reporter’s list of the top 25 acting programs. It was supposedly based on the opinion of various execs in the entertainment industry, casting directors, etc. Of her final 14 schools… Yale, Northwestern, USC and FSU each made that list. FSU was also a safety choice. People she has worked with in the film industry have also suggested adding UChicago, Brown, Columbia and Princeton to that list for various reasons… and since those 4 schools were also on her remaining list of schools after running a # of searches on College Board’s website (creating 32 candidates), she was confident in adding them to the list of schools to apply to. So then her list stood at 8. She added UTampa and UMiami as two more FL safety schools. Finally, Stanford, Dartmouth, Penn and Duke were added because they were the strongest 4 left on that CB search. Granted, none of those 4 were selected for theatre alone.

Her overall list may be less scientific in terms of its results than she thinks it is… but she is at least convinced that it includes 8 well-respected schools that also have excellent theatre programs. Overall, I was content with her list as well.

But mainly it all comes down to Yale and Brown. Those are clearly her top 2.

@WWWard That’s good reasoning if she is planning to double major. I was surprised when you mentioned your daughters list that there were no true BFA conservatory programs. I’m also a female applying for theatre and a Yale SCEA applicant, so it’s interesting to read your comments I’m sure Yale isn’t only accepting one female theatre student.

Hahaha. I do not show my anxiety in “real” life and do vent on CC mostly lol. Venting in real life is mostly just annoying.

schoolio: Hopefully not. That could make for some lackluster theatrical productions… lol. Good Luck!!!

Anyone on here applying to UMich-AA?

@WWWard Same to your daughter!

schoolio: Thanks… we appreciate it.

@SpoolMan I applied to U Michigan Ann Arbor EA!

schoolio: Have you determined all the schools that you plan to apply to?

Speaking of dmouth. Results came out today! Check out the results if you have time.

I feel like my username is deceiving. I am neither from New York nor named Mike. Also, the number 5 has no special significance in my life.

Thanks entomom and all for the concern but dd really only applied ED to Brown and RD to Gtown. I remembered her talking about applying EA to Gtown but didn’t because of the policy. It was late when I posted last night so that was the problem,thank God! She definitely applied to Gtown and Yale RD.

I couldn’t help but join CC after seeing all the discussion… Originally I thought the decisions were to be given out on the 15th, before my Cambridge Skype interview which is scheduled later. I thought if I were to get in then I don’t have to do the Cambridge interview anymore!! (I def prefer Yale over Cambridge) Now that we will only find out on the 16th, I’ll have to do the Cambridge interview!..

Sk8gurl, Glad to hear it, best of luck to her!

@TheoK96

Which Cambridge college does Skype interviews? Isn’t it the official Cambridge policy that they only do in-person interviews?

Within 104 hours now and counting…

@eeship im not sure, but after they sent the interview invitation letter to a wrong address they offered me a Skype interview. oxford and cambridge probably have similar policies and i know for a fact that my friend had a skype interview with hertford college in oxford last year.

WWWard: You mentioned your daughter might major in computer science and theater - is she interested in combining them (computer created films/ special effects) or are they separate interests? I saw Yale has a computing and the arts major which sounded interesting.
