milkweed: Yes… another CCer had mentioned to us that her son was majoring in that at Yale presently and loves it. So she may very well now be interested in the combined major… if she is fortunate enough to be admitted to Yale.

Interesting major. Is it unique to Yale?

SpoolMan: It seems to be uniquely offered at Yale, in terms of existing “as is”. Of course, at Brown, you could simply design it that way too… as they let you be the architect of your own major. But my D really likes the way Yale describes the major and combines the two areas she is most interested in…

Now just 98 hours away…

@WWWard I have. It’s about 60:40 conservatory:regular school

schoolio: Good Luck. Of course, Yale could simplify that strategy for you :)

we only have to get through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday :)

… and Monday until 5pm… lol :)

Never have I wanted the weekend to pass by so quickly. Aaaah! Good luck to everyone!

I don’t know how I’m going to make it through the whole day on Monday… :P

One way of curbing my cravings for the decision is looking at other people’s decisions from Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Duke; it’s actually working!

Certainly a lot of happy HS Seniors across the county this week… very cool.

ikr? Caltech, Williams, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, and Duke already came out!!

tomorrow Stanford, Johns Hopkins, and Harvard come out.

And an even greater number of unhappy ones. So bizarre seeing peers get decisions.

Good luck to the 4,768 early applicants for the class of 2018. Hopefully the 14-16% accepted on Monday includes many CCers…

Oh my gosh seeing the Brown, Dartmouth, Columbia threads are making me more nervous…so many qualified people getting rejected/deferred

Hi guys! This is obviously very late in the game and it’s too late to do anything but I was wondering… for the SAT, I mistakenly used the 4 free score reports given during my junior year and sent them off to Yale. I didn’t realize that by using the free reports, they were sent automatically before I could even see my score. Since I sent one SAT score, Yale requires that I send all the rest so they have all of my subject test scores as well. My subject test scores are pretty low and obviously not up to the Yale standard. However, I later scored a 35 on the ACT with a 10 on the essay. Do you think Yale will find fault in my low SAT subject test scores and use this as a way to hurt my chances? Or will they just look at my much higher ACT and base it off of that?

I wish only my ACT scores were sent, but it was too late to stop them from receiving my SAT scores and I’m afraid they’re going to be the biggest reason I don’t get accepted. ):

Yale is looking for reasons to accept you, not reject you…you’ll be fine

@hahahuang They might actually see the significant increase in scores as a positive. Scores are not going to be the biggest reason you will or won’t get accepted. Once you’re in the range of acceptable Yale scores, they start paying attention to what else you have done. The 35 on the ACT shows them that you ARE academically inclined enough to do well at Yale. Most people applying to Yale are this way also, so it is the other stuff in the application that they’re going to be looking at more closely to see who they will ultimately accept.

@awesomenerd @SpoolMan alright, that makes me feel a lot better. Thanks for the input :)

@awesomenerd While admissions officers always say that they are looking for reasons to accept you and not reasons to reject you, I don’t think that’s the case. They are also looking for red flags and potential problems in your application.
