15.9 I’ll take it. Thanks! Didn’t expect it to be as high as Harvard and am SOOO glad it isn’t the usual 13%

@YaleGradandDad thank you for the stats! Under an hour and a half left…

That leaves 55 unaccounted for…

They may have rescinded admission or had missing files?

^Or their equivalent of Z-List; yale z lists a ton from my school each year, so I know that they do it.

I’m not familiar with a Z-list.

Doesn’t Z listing each year just have a snowball effect?

What the heck is a z list

It is when they accept you but with a forced gap year delay before matriculation. Usually for someone well-connected but possibly under-qualified, etc. It appeases the family potentially while protecting current year stats. That is the explanation others have offered on CC before…

But it decreases next year’s stats…

Z-Listing is where a college offers admission contingent upon a mandatory gap year. From what I’ve heard, it’s normally offered to legacies.
I thought that it’s normally only given to waitlisted students in the spring?

True… but maybe they hope your stats will get better… or you will simply move on to another college…

Ok interesting…It’s kind of annoying how people who are well-connected get special treatment. But it is what it is and I guess these people can’t help it.

This thread explains z list on the 2nd page.

Perhaps the alumni community is already sharing the list of admittees?

Does anyone know the source for this info…?

Yale College received 4,774 EA applications this fall. We are sending 759 letters of admission today, reflecting a 15.9% admissions rate. Of the EA pool 2,735 are deferred for reconsideration in the spring, and 1,225 are denied admission.

At least the well connected legacies aren’t considered in that 16%. Lol

Likely from some sort of alumni or interviewer email.

Oh, and z list isn’t only for the well connected. I know some kids who were z listed at harvard without having any prior affiliation to the school.

That might be from alumni online community?
