Yale Class of 2020 applicants

@APScholar18 I should adopt that attitude. Thank you.

Today is Sunday, which means the weekend is almost at its end.
I just want to take a moment to remind all of you guys (including myself) that whether we’re rejected, accepted, or deferred on Tuesday it is NOT indicative of who we are as people. From following this thread I’ve notice how we are intelligent, funny, caring, daring, responsibile, dedicated, and I’m sure if I wanted I can keep adding to the list.
I truly wish each and every one of us nothing but the best and I am 100% certain that we will be successful, always remember that EVERYTHING happens for a reason.

@Xboxgamergirl I think they only actually upload them on Tuesday because locking the portal makes no sense: there are people who turn in their RD applications throughout December, and the portal shouldn’t be locked for them at any time in case they need to contact the admissions office. As for locking it only for those who applied EA, I think it’s just too time-consuming.

@aposnova , that was just a thought, since they did that for all the other colleges I applied to. As far as locking it, they only will lock it for users who have a decision. But anywho, we’ll find out tomorrow

RD applicant here wishing everyone luck! You’re all wonderful people, and I’m sure that you’ll eventually find your perfect school, whether it’s Yale or another school

Less than 2 days now…
Man this waiting is really getting to my head

1 day and 22 hours!!!
I am unashamed to admit that I have a timer running

No shame in that @jk1998. Thankfully I have work until 7 tomorrow, which means the day will go by quickly. Then on Tuesday I’m going to find something to keep me busy until 5 PM.

@gabe211212 Honestly that post made me so happy. Thank you. Sometimes we can’t help but feel like we’re not “good enough” if we don’t get in. That’s just a natural human conclusion that every perfectionist comes to. But we really do need to remind ourselves that Yale gets so many competitive applications, including all of us here, and that really it ends up kind of like playing the lottery. You get in, great, celebrate! You don’t, don’t stress it and move on, because if one tiny part of your application is what tipped them to say no, then it’s not worth being upset over it. I wish Yale could accept more students, but that’s not the case. We will get from point A to point B in a multitude of ways, and the experience will be worthwhile no matter what path we choose. It may be Yale, it may be not. Either way, we will SUCCEED. Who’s with me on that, you amazing people?

Honestly guys, I’ve found that the best cure for this anticipation/anxiety is falling in love with your (plausible, non-Ivt, high match/low reach) 2nd choice and all they have to offer. We’re hoping for the best Tuesday, but like @gabe211212 kind of said, convince youself of all the various paths by which you’ll thrive, and place at which you will, as well! I’m watching UMich/Emory/Georgetown (reach, but still) admissions videos on YouTube because I needed to take a break from watching the Yale ones…

2 more days to go! You guys have all been incredibly supportive of one another and I could not have asked for a better group of people to go through this process along with me. Yale is an amazing place, but I know you will all end up somewhere that’s perfect for you. I have faith that we will all be able to achieve our dreams! Let’s do this, Yale applicants class of 2020! <:-P

They don’t announce decisions through the admitted students’ site, they announce on the portal. Excuse my skepticism, but I saw this kind of absurdity happen on the Harvard thread shortly before decisions came out also. People claimed they somehow knew already.

Take a deep breath, and wait for Tuesday.

Hey guys,

I’ve been following this thread for a while now (2 ish weeks). I applied early and I have been so nervous ever since I started checking this page. Everybody is so talented and it’s just so hard to know who they will choose. Any tips for calming down and getting ready for rejection??

@kuriosmind thank you so so so so so so so much

I apologoize for doubting. I think the normal (non-QB) applicants, myself included, are very high stress right now. It’s hard to love a school so much and see something so irregular as this happen. Of course you would have access to the portal if you got in through QB. I really wish everyone the best of luck. Community is one of the major reasons I’m applying to Yale, and it’s nice to know I already have a community of people right here on CC. Best of luck friends.

Ivies set specific dates for things like questbridge and SCEA. And then they stick to them.

@kuriosmind LOL I can’t wait xD

Is anybody else on here not even that concerned about rejection? Honestly, if I don’t get in, I will be so happy to see others on this thread that I will be content with my other schools. Plus, I can’t pay for yale :frowning:

Did all of our posts get deleted? :-?

Haha the posts r gone, I’ll never forget it thought
