Yale Interview On-Campus or Alumni?

Yale says they prefer it on-campus. But, it would save me a trip to CT to have an alumni interview instead. Any suggestions? Does this really matter?

Yale says it prefers oncampus? Really? Didn't know that. I've NEVER heard that. All and all, it's the thinnest slice of your application. Unless $ and time aren't issues, I'd do the local interview.

I think it's the other way around. Which do you prefer? To be interviewed by a student on campus or an alum locally? And yes, factoring in time and $ too.

we attended a group local info session this week with a Yale admit officer plus a local grad who interviews.
Yale employee/also an alum... was very clear that no one needs to travel to CT for an interview...and that local alum can sometimes clarify context about a prospective student with more clarity in a way that can add to an application or help put forth a student's real life in a unique corner of the USA
